Akshara The School

Akshara The School is located right on Akshera Road here in Pathapatanam, specifically at 3-19-67. It’s been sitting on this stretch of road for a while now. Every morning, the staff arrives early to get the rooms ready before the heat really sets in. The building itself is pretty straightforward, just a couple of floors with windows that look out toward the main street. You can hear the traffic passing by, but once the kids are inside, it mostly gets drowned out by the sound of voices from the classrooms. We’ve got a small area where the children gather, and usually, there’s a bit of dust because of the road work that seems to happen every few months around here. The teachers are mostly local people who have lived in the area for years. They know the families and the shopkeepers nearby. In the afternoons, the sun hits the front of the school directly, so we keep the shades pulled down to keep the rooms cool. It’s not a fancy place, but it’s sturdy and does what it needs to do. Most of the desks have been around for a long time, and you can see where kids have scratched their names over the years. We spend a lot of time cleaning up after the rains because the water tends to pool near the entrance. It’s just a normal part of life here at the school on Akshera Road.
