Working here at TNPL in Kagithapuram is something you just get used to after a while. The newsprint side stays really busy and those machines never seem to stop for anything. We have the Tnpl Cement part here too, so there is always something moving, whether it is paper or building material. The weather in this part of Tamil Nadu is no joke, especially when you are standing near the machinery. We spend our days mostly moving pulp or checking on the newsprint rolls that go out to the big publishers. It is a big operation but it feels like a small town because everyone knows each other. The smell of the paper mill is everywhere, and you kind of stop noticing it after the first week. We drink a lot of tea to stay going during the long shifts. The loading area is a mess of trucks and drivers waiting for their turns. It is not the kind of job where you sit in a fancy chair all day. You are on your feet, dealing with the heat and the noise of the paper being made. We just keep our heads down and do the work that needs doing every day.
