Set College

We are right near the Mahamariamman Temple on the Salem Bye Pass Road, which is part of the N-H-7 highway. It is a very busy area with trucks and buses constantly passing by. Set College is a local place for students in Karur who want to continue their studies after school. We have a modest building that we have painted a bright shade so people can find it easily. Inside, the rooms are filled with desks and fans that stay on all day to deal with the Tamil Nadu heat. We do not have a big campus with trees and parks. Instead, we are right in the middle of the action. Students arrive on their bikes or take the local buses that stop near the temple. We offer a variety of courses, mostly focused on what will help someone get a job around here. The office is usually a bit cluttered with admission forms and old registers. We do not have a big team of administrators. It is just a few of us making sure the classes happen on time. During festival days at the temple, it gets even noisier, but we have learned to work around it. We are just a regular college serving the people in the 639002 area. We don't try to be fancy. We just provide a place for people to learn their lessons and get their degrees. It's a lot of work but it feels good to see the students succeed.
