We are tucked away at 16/71 A(2) in the Civil Lines area. It’s a bit quieter over here compared to the main market, which is nice for a place like Skillshine Academy where people are trying to learn. We have a few rooms set up with chairs and boards. It’s nothing too fancy, just a place for students to come and pick up some new skills. Most of us here have been in the teaching line for a while. We see a lot of young faces coming through the doors every morning, hoping to improve their chances at a job. Sometimes the classrooms get a bit crowded, and we have to pull in extra chairs from the hallway. We spend a lot of time talking about futures and helping people figure out what they’re good at. Civil Lines is a decent place to be based; the trees give some shade and it feels a bit more professional. We don’t have big fancy signs or a lot of flash. It’s mostly just word of mouth from people who’ve spent time here. We keep the books updated and try to make sure everyone understands the lessons before they leave. It’s a steady routine of classes and coffee breaks. We’re just local people trying to help other local people get ahead. We don't make big promises, we just show up and do the teaching every single day. There’s always someone asking questions or finishing up an assignment near the entrance.
