Ambika Beauty Parlour & Training Centre

Our place is tucked away in Ward No-9 in Jheejhak, quite close to the Pal Chakki landmark. Most locals use that to find us because the streets here can be a bit confusing if you aren't from around Subhash Nagar. It’s a combined setup where we do regular beauty work and also teach some of the younger girls who want to learn the trade. The training centre part stays pretty busy during the day with students practicing how to hold thread or mix colors. It isn't a silent place; there is always someone talking or the sound of the hair dryer going. The building is older, and we’ve had to fix the walls a few times, but it serves its purpose for what we need. We started this in Kanpur because there weren't many places nearby for women to get things done without traveling far. It’s a simple room with some basic equipment and chairs. We keep a register for the students and another for the ladies coming in for a quick eyebrow threading or a hair wash. The neighborhood is quiet in the mornings, but by evening, it gets lively. We try to keep things organized, though sometimes when many students show up at once, it gets a bit crowded. We just make room and carry on. It’s a practical space for practical people. Most of our regulars are neighbors who have been coming for years and know us well.
