Out here in Pottankal, things move at their own pace. We are Kolithattu Granites & Sands Private Limited, based in Thondiyil, near Peravoor. It's a quiet part of Kannur, but we stay busy with the local construction going on around Thalassery. A few of us run the show here. We handle granite and sand, mostly. It’s straightforward work. You get the materials, you move them to where they need to go. We started this because there was a need for reliable supplies in this part of Kerala. The roads leading up to our place can be a bit narrow, but the trucks get through eventually. We don't have a big corporate office or anything like that. Just a yard where we keep the stuff. Sometimes the rain slows us down, which is just how it is in Kannur. We've been part of the community for a while now. People know us by name, which is nice. We aren't looking to expand into some massive company; we just want to keep providing sand and stone to the folks nearby. It’s messy work, getting your hands dirty every day, but it’s honest. If you are building a wall or a house around here, you might have seen our trucks. We don’t bother with fancy slogans or big ads. We just focus on the piles of sand and the blocks of granite in the yard. It keeps us occupied from morning till evening. We deal with the local builders and home owners mostly. It's a steady life and we like the neighborhood.
