Basheer Steel & Cement Mart

Basheer Steel & Cement Mart sits on Panapuzha Road in Mathamangalam. It is a loud place sometimes because of the steel clanging when we unload the trucks. We handle a lot of heavy material here. The cement bags get stacked high and the steel rods take up a good amount of space in the back. Mathamangalam is a quiet enough town, but this road gets a fair bit of traffic with people heading out towards the main areas. We started this place because people around here needed a local spot to get their building supplies without traveling too far. It is hard work, especially when the sun is beating down on the metal roof, but we are used to it by now. We don't do much in the way of advertising because everyone in the village knows where Basheer is. Usually, a customer walks in, tells us what they are working on, and we see what we have in stock. Sometimes we have to wait for a delivery if the rods aren't the right size, but people are patient. We keep a small chair by the entrance for anyone who wants to sit and chat for a minute while we get their order ready. It is not a high-tech operation, just a lot of lifting and counting and making sure the inventory is right. We like being part of the landscape here on Panapuzha Road.
