Tirwa Unnati Kisan Producer Company Limited is based out of Jankhat in the Kannauj area. We work from Raj Ram Sharma’s place. It’s a typical rural setup where everyone knows everyone else’s business. We started this because the market can be tough on a single farmer working alone. By coming together, we can manage our supplies and our sales a bit better. We aren't a corporate entity with big ideas; we are just people who live by the seasons. The ground here has been farmed by our families for a long time, and we want to keep it that way. Every morning there is something new to deal with, whether it's a broken pump or a change in the weather. We don't have a lot of rules, just a general understanding that we all need to pitch in. Our meetings are informal, usually happening whenever a few of us find the time to sit down together. We talk about the crops, the price of fertilizer, and who needs help with their harvest. It’s a slow and steady kind of life. We don't use any fancy language to describe what we do. We grow food, and we try to make enough money to keep the lights on and the kids in school. It’s a practical arrangement for people who spend their lives in the fields of Tirwa. It’s not much, but it’s our living.
