Sri Aura Producer Company Limited operates out of Bheetargaon, specifically at the place of Manorama Misra. We are a group that focuses on what local producers are doing. It’s a collective effort, really. We didn't start this to become some big name, we just wanted a way to work together better. In Bheetargaon, everyone knows everyone, so news travels fast and we get a lot of visitors dropping by the office. It gets noisy sometimes when several farmers are all talking at once about the current season. We deal with all the typical stuff—seeds, harvesting, and trying to get a fair price for what we grow. It’s a lot of paperwork, which none of us really enjoys, but it has to be done to keep things legal. We try to help each other out when someone has a bad crop or when the market is down. It’s a tough way to make a living, but it’s what our families have done for generations. The office isn't much to look at, just a table and some chairs and lots of files. We focus on the practical side of things. If something isn't working, we change it. We’re just a bunch of people trying to make a go of it together. It feels more like a community project than a corporation most days. We keep our heads down and just do the work that needs doing. Every month we have a meeting to see where we stand and what needs to be bought for the next cycle.
