About Pinegrove International School – Education in Kangra
Being located right in the Main Bazzar of Dheera means we are in the middle of everything. Kangra can be quiet, but our street is usually humming with people going about their business. The school building is an older one, tucked in between the shops. We have enough rooms for the different grades, and they are mostly filled with wooden benches and blackboards. It gets chilly in the winter here, so we tell the students to bring their heavy sweaters. The light comes in through the big windows in the mornings. We don't have a massive campus with fields, but the children find places to play in the courtyard. The walk to the school is uphill for some, which keeps everyone fit. We keep the registers by hand in the front office. There is a small library that has some old science journals and storybooks. It’s a bit cramped when the parents come for meetings, but we pull out extra stools. Living and working in Dheera means we see the same faces every day at the market. Our staff mostly lives within walking distance. It’s not a grand institution, just a local spot for the neighborhood kids. We make do with what we have and the classes stay busy from morning until the afternoon sun starts to dip. The bells ring out over the market stalls every hour so everyone stays on time.
