We are located at number 59 in the Isdco Womens Industrial Park in Kattur Village. It is a bit of a drive out here but the space is good for the metal work we do. The industrial park is usually full of trucks and people moving crates around. Inside our place, it is mostly the sound of cutting and the smell of raw metal. We have been here since they set up this part of the village for businesses. It is a lot of hard work and the floor is always covered in small metal shavings that are hard to sweep up. We wear heavy boots and keep the machines running most of the day. Kattur is quiet outside of the park, but inside it is a different story. Maika Metals is just a group of people who know how to handle the materials. We don't have a fancy showroom or anything. If you want to see what we are doing, you just come into the main shed where the heat is. In the afternoons, the sun hits the metal roof and it gets quite warm inside, but we have some big fans that help a bit. Most of what we make gets loaded onto trucks and sent off as soon as it is finished. It is a straightforward way to make a living and we have gotten used to the pace of the industrial park over time. We just keep our heads down.
