United Steels

Our shop is at number 100 on M.K.N. Road in Alandur. It’s a busy stretch of road and we’re right in the middle of it. United Steels is the kind of place where you’re going to get some dust on your shoes if you stay for more than five minutes. We deal with a lot of heavy stuff, so there’s usually pieces of metal stacked up near the entrance and tools lying around where someone just finished using them. The heat in Alandur can be pretty tough, especially in the middle of the afternoon when the sun hits the front of the building. We have a small area in the back where we keep our records and a table where we can sit down for a minute. Most of the time, we’re out on the floor or near the front, dealing with whatever needs to be moved or loaded. It’s not a quiet job. There’s always the sound of trucks passing by outside and the clanging of steel. We’ve been here long enough that the regulars know exactly where to find us. We don't bother with much decoration; the walls are just there to hold the roof up. It’s a practical place for practical work. We just show up every morning, open the gates, and see what the day brings. Usually, we're tired by the end of it, but that's just how the steel business is in a place like this.
