Pakhimoria Organic Boster Farmers Producer Company Limited is situated out in Nagaon, specifically in the Krishnakhat area. Jinku Borah is the one who helps manage things from there. We’re a bunch of local farmers who decided that working together was better than struggling on our own. In this part of Assam, farming is what most of us have known since we were kids. We’ve seen the way things have changed over the years, and we wanted to get back to more organic methods. It’s hard work, no doubt about it. You can't just spray a field and walk away. You have to be out there every day, checking the leaves and the soil. We use our meetings to talk about things like compost and how to keep the pests away without using poison. It’s a learning process for all of us. Some of the older folks have a lot of wisdom to share, and we try to listen. Our company is just a way to make sure we get a decent deal when we finally take our stuff to market. We don't have a big staff or a fancy office. It’s mostly just us in our muddy boots, trying to make a living off the land in a way that doesn't ruin it for the next generation. It is a slow life, but it feels right to do things this way together in our own village.
