Shrujan

Shrujan is located right behind the G.E.B. Sub Station in Bhujodi. It’s a quiet spot compared to the big cities. We work out of this space in the village. It’s mostly about the local craft and the people who do it. We have a lot of artisans who come in and out. The building is simple and fits in with the surroundings. We don't have a corporate structure. It’s more like a big group of people working on traditional embroidery and textiles. We spend our days looking at threads, needles, and fabric. There is always someone sitting and working on a piece of cloth. It takes a lot of patience. We have shelves full of finished work and stacks of raw materials waiting to be used. The atmosphere is pretty relaxed, though we do have deadlines to meet. The dusty road outside leads to the rest of the village. We’ve been part of this community for a long time. It’s not just a business; it’s where we live and work every day. We don't use fancy software or complicated systems. We just keep track of the work manually and make sure the quality stays the same. People come from far away to see what we do, but to us, it’s just our daily life behind the sub station. It gets quite hot in the afternoon, so we usually take a long break then. The colors of the threads are the best part of the day.
