S K Foods

Our business, S K Foods, is right in Mandvi-Chowk in Mundra. If you’ve ever been to Kutch, you know the air is salty and the sun is usually quite strong during the day. Being in the middle of the local market area means it’s always loud with people shouting and motorbikes zooming past. We deal with food products, mostly bulk items that come through the port nearby. The building is an old one, like most things in the chowk. Inside, sacks of stuff are piled in the back, and there is a small wooden counter up front where we talk to customers. This isn't a fancy supermarket; it’s more of a traditional trading spot. Much of our time is spent checking quality and talking to the transporters. Because it gets dusty, someone is always cleaning the front step to keep it looking halfway decent. We don't have a website or a social media page. Most of our business comes from people just walking in or calling us because they’ve known our family for twenty years. The floors are made of stone and stay cool even when it’s boiling outside. Fancy packaging and complex marketing strategies aren't things we use here. We just sell food items to people who need them. It’s simple work that our family has done for a long time. We just keep the doors open and see who comes by.
