Working at Mundra International Container Terminal Pvt. Ltd. means being out at the New Mundra Port on Navinal Island. It is a big place with a lot of heavy machinery. We are located in the Mundra area of Kachchh. The wind can get pretty strong coming off the water. It’s not like an office in the city. There is a lot of salt in the air and the sun is usually very bright. We deal with containers all day long. They come in on ships and go out on trucks and trains. It’s a loud place with the sound of cranes and engines. Navinal Island used to be different before the port was built, but now it’s all about the shipping business. We spend our shifts making sure everything is where it should be. It’s a lot of coordination. We wear our safety gear and stay focused. The dust from the dry Kachchh land gets everywhere. You have to get used to the scale of everything here. The containers look small from a distance but they are huge when you are standing next to them. We don’t have much time for sitting around. It’s a twenty-four-hour operation. The lights stay on all night. People come from all over to work here at the terminal. It’s a tough environment but it’s what we know. We just keep the cargo moving through the port and wait for the next ship.
