Verma Hair Cutting Salon is a small place located right on Air Force Road in Jodhpur. If you know the area near Sher Vilaas Colony, you have probably passed by us many times without thinking much about it. It’s just a regular shop where we do what we know how to do. I’ve been working here for a long time now and the mirrors have seen a lot of faces over the years. The chairs are the old kind that squeak a little when you sit down, but they get the job done just fine. We don't have a big staff or anything like that. Usually, it's just me or maybe one other person helping out when things get a bit busy on the weekends. People from the neighborhood come in for a quick trim or a shave before they head off to work or school. It’s a simple routine. We don't have any fancy air conditioning, just a big ceiling fan that keeps the Jodhpur heat away as best as it can. There is always some talk about the cricket scores or the local news while the scissors are moving. We aren't trying to be one of those expensive places you see in the malls. It is just a local spot for local people who want to look a bit neater. Sometimes the floor gets covered in hair faster than I can sweep it, but that’s just how a busy day goes here.
