You can find Vaishali Hair Saloon over in 21 Sector C.H.B in the Nandanvan area of Jodhpur. We are situated right near the Sabji Mandi so it is always lively around here with people buying their vegetables. The noise from the market spills into the shop sometimes but we don't mind it. It feels like being part of the community. We have been cutting hair here for a while and the routine is pretty much the same every day. We open up the shutters and get the water ready. The scissors need sharpening every now and then to keep things smooth. We don't do anything too fancy just regular haircuts and shaves for the folks around here. The floor is tiled but it is mostly hidden under a layer of hair until we sweep at night. There is a small television in the corner that usually has the news on. People like to watch it while they wait their turn. It is a practical shop for people who just want a decent haircut without any fuss. The mirrors are old and have a few spots on them but they show the reflection well enough. Living and working in Jodhpur means dealing with the dust and the heat but we are used to it. We just keep working one person after another until the market closes. It is a steady life and we are happy to be here in Nandanvan. We open early and stay until the sun goes down.
