Shree Babuji Hair Dresser

Shree Babuji Hair Dresser is on Pal Road in Jodhpur, right near the Khatri Namkeen shop. Because of that, the smell of fried snacks is always drifting into the shop, which makes me hungry by midday. The shop is on a very busy road, so there is always a bit of dust coming in from the open door. I keep a broom handy and sweep the floor every hour or so to get rid of the hair and the dirt from the street. I have the standard chairs and the big mirrors that show every angle. Men from all over this part of Jodhpur come here for a shave or a trim. I use a lot of shaving cream and the old-fashioned razors. It’s a place where people don't mind waiting a bit. They read the newspaper or talk about the local politics while I work. I don't have any fancy air conditioning, just a big fan that moves the warm air around. The walls have a few old calendars on them. I like the noise of the scissors and the sound of the vehicles passing by on Pal Road. It’s a simple life. I start my work around nine and keep going until the evening. By the time I finish the last haircut, I am usually quite tired, but it is good to be busy. I lock the gate, say goodbye to the neighbors, and head back home to my family.
