Shiv Hair Saloon

If you find yourself at Ratanada Choraha in Jodhpur, you will see Shiv Hair Saloon right there by the main circle. It is a noisy spot because of all the traffic, but we like being in the middle of it all. The shop is small but it works for what we need. We spend most of our day standing by the chairs. It is a lot of work on the feet, but you get used to it after a few years. We have some older mirrors that have been here since we started. They have seen a lot of different faces over the seasons. Jodhpur is a place where people know each other, and Ratanada is no different. People come in for a quick trim or a shave and we talk about the weather or how the local market is doing. We don't have any big signs or bright lights, just the name on the front of the shop. Sometimes the power goes out and we just wait it out or use the natural light from the open door. It is just a normal hair salon for normal people. There is always a pile of newspapers on the side table for anyone waiting. We try to keep things organized, but on a busy Saturday, there might be hair on the floor for a minute until we can grab the broom. It is just how it is. We are glad to be part of the circle.
