Sahara Metal (India)

We've been at Laxmi Bhavan on Old Lakkadpitha Road for a good while now. Most folks just call it the Pathar Gate area. It gets busy here, especially with all the movement around the gate. We handle metal stuff every day. The building isn't brand new but it works for what we do. Sometimes the traffic outside makes it a bit noisy when we are trying to load things up. My desk is near the window so I see everyone coming and going. We mostly just focus on getting the metal orders sorted out and ready. It’s a lot of lifting and checking sizes. The weather gets pretty hot in the afternoons, so we try to get the heavy work done early if we can. People stop by asking for directions sometimes since Pathar Gate is a bit of a landmark. We just do our thing here, keeping the inventory moving. It’s a regular job with regular people. Sometimes the dust from the road gets inside, but that’s just how it is in this part of town. We don’t have fancy coffee machines or anything, just a small stove for tea. It keeps us going through the afternoon slump. Most of the guys have been here a few years so we know how each other works. The shop floor is usually cluttered with offcuts and sheets that need sorting. We spend a lot of time counting pieces and making sure the weights are right on the scale. It's not a glamorous place but it's where we spend our days.
