Mandore Road is a busy place, especially where the Mandi Yard is located in Paota. That’s where you’ll find the office for Rahul Daga. It’s a no-nonsense kind of area where people come to get business done. The yard is full of activity from the early hours, with trucks lining up and people shouting over the noise of engines. Our spot is pretty basic—just a room with some benches and a place to keep the records. It’s often quite hot, and the dust from the yard settles on everything, so we’re always wiping down the desks. We don’t have any marketing people or a fancy website; we just deal with the people who come through the gates. Rahul is usually around, talking to the drivers or checking on the loads that are coming in. It’s a lot of physical work and staying on top of the numbers. We drink a lot of water and chai to get through the day. The atmosphere is very traditional, with a lot of handshakes and verbal agreements. It’s the kind of place where everyone knows everyone else’s business. We’ve been operating this way for a long time, and it works for us. There isn't any polished corporate talk here, just plain speaking about the goods and the prices. When the day ends, the yard quietens down a bit, and we finally get a chance to finish up the books before heading home for some rest.
