R K Steels

We are located on Malar Road out in the Jodhpur district. It’s a dry part of the world and the dust really settles on everything we keep in the yard. R K Steels has been sitting on this plot for a while now. Most days are spent watching the trucks pull in from the main road. We have a lot of heavy stuff sitting out in the sun, so it’s usually burning hot to the touch by midday. There isn’t much shade except for the small overhang where we keep the desk and the ledger books. We mostly deal with local folks who know where to find us. The road outside can get pretty quiet in the afternoons when the heat is at its worst, but morning time is usually a scramble to get things moved. We use a lot of chalk to mark the metal pieces so we don't lose track of what belongs to who. The gate squeaks every time it opens and we’ve been meaning to oil it for months, but other things always come up. It’s just a regular yard with heaps of metal and a few people trying to keep things organized. We don't have any fancy signs, just the name on the wall and the sound of metal clanging together when we load the flatbeds. It's regular work and it keeps us busy from Monday to Saturday. Sometimes the wind picks up and we have to cover the paperwork so it doesn't blow away.
