New Bombay Hair Dresser is located over on 1 St C Road in Sardarpura. If you know Jodhpur, you know that Sardarpura is one of those areas where there is always something happening. There are shops everywhere and the traffic can be a bit much during the evenings. Our shop is a straightforward place for men to get a haircut or a shave. We have the old-style chairs that lean back, which are actually quite sturdy. I’ve lived in Jodhpur all my life, and this shop is just part of the daily grind. We get all sorts of people, from young students to older men who have been coming here since they were boys. The mirrors on the walls show a bit of age, but they do the job just fine. We keep the razors sharp and the towels clean, which is what really matters at the end of the day. There’s no music playing usually, just the sound of the scissors and whatever is on the radio or the TV in the corner. Sometimes we talk about cricket, sometimes about the weather. It gets very hot here in the summer, so the desert cooler is always running full blast. It’s a simple setup. We don't do anything fancy with colors or chemicals, just the basics. People know what to expect when they walk in. We open early and stay open until the last customer is done. It's just a regular part of the street.
