Mateshwari Traders

We are set up in Village Bap, which is in the Phalodi tehsil. Our place is right on National Highway 15, near the Kanasar Chouraha. Being on the highway means we see a lot of long-haul trucks and travelers passing through the desert landscape. It gets very hot here, especially in the afternoons, so we spend a lot of our time under the shade of the roof. We trade in various goods that the local people and the passing drivers might need. The shop is a simple structure that can withstand the wind and dust that often blows across the highway. We have a lot of items stacked up inside, and it can look a bit messy to someone from the city, but we know exactly where every item is located. There is usually a dusty truck parked outside and someone sitting on a stool near the door chatting. We don't have many fancy gadgets to help us run things, just our hands and some basic knowledge of the trade. Life out here near Kanasar Chouraha is quiet in some ways but busy with the flow of the road in others. We get up early to beat the heat and keep the traders' shop going until the sun sets over the horizon. It's an honest day's work in a rugged part of the country. We just keep doing what we do, day after day.
