Gulab Nagar is a fairly quiet area compared to the main parts of Jodhpur, but being near the RTO office means there is always some movement around Gali No. 1. You see people rushing with their paperwork all day long. Our shop is a bit of a landmark for those who live around Bjs Colony. The mirrors inside are a bit old, but they show everything clearly. We have a routine that starts early in the morning, making sure the floor is clean before the first customer walks in. It’s usually someone's kid who needs a haircut before school, or an older man who has been coming here for ten years. We don't use any of those fancy apps for appointments; people just show up and wait their turn. Sometimes the wait is long, so we talk about the weather or how the roads are getting worse. There is a specific chair near the window that everyone likes because you can see who is walking by outside. The walls are a plain color, and we have a few posters that have been there since we opened. It’s not a place where you expect luxury, just a solid haircut and some decent conversation. By the time evening rolls around and the RTO office closes, things settle down and we finish up the last few clients before locking the shutters for the night. We keep things basic and make sure everyone leaves looking better than when they arrived.
