You can find Mahalaxmi Bags on Nai Sarak, tucked away at the backside of Hotel Ratnawali. We are in the area known as Rawaton Ka Bass. It’s a bit of a hidden spot if you don't know the way, but being behind the hotel makes it a bit quieter than the main road. I spend most of my time here among the stacks of bags. The building is old, like most things in Rawaton Ka Bass, which gives it a certain character. I don't have fancy display cases, just some wooden shelves and hooks on the walls. Most of the time, the back entrance of Hotel Ratnawali is busy with staff, so there’s always someone moving around. I’ve lived in this part of town my whole life, so opening a shop on Nai Sarak felt natural. The bags we have are mostly for daily use, nothing too extravagant. I try to keep the place tidy, but when you have a hundred bags in a small room, it’s a bit of a challenge. Some people find us by mistake while looking for the hotel, and they end up staying for a chat. It’s a humble setup with just a single light bulb hanging from the ceiling. I handle everything myself, from opening the shutters in the morning to locking up at night. It’s just an honest local business in a historic part of the city, right there at the backside of Hotel Ratnawali.
