Bhawani Beauty Hair Saloon

Down on Chopasni Road near Somani College in Jodhpur, the sun can be really tough. We have this saloon where we mostly do hair and shaves for the men in the neighborhood. It is a simple setup that has stayed the same for a long time. The walls are a light color but they have some marks from years of work. We have the standard barber chairs and a small bench for people to sit on while they wait. A lot of students from the college come in because we are so close to them. We hear all kinds of talk about exams and cricket while we work the clippers. The fans are always spinning on high to keep the Jodhpur heat at bay. We keep our tools in a wooden cabinet and make sure the razors are always ready. It isn't a fancy place with air conditioning or anything like that. We just open the front door and let the air move. Sometimes when it is slow, we sit outside on the steps and watch the traffic go by on Chopasni Road. We know most of the other shopkeepers on this block and we often share a pot of tea in the afternoons. The floor is usually covered in hair until the very end of the day when we finally sweep it all out. It is just a basic shop for a decent haircut without any of the extra fuss you see in bigger cities.
