Basant (Orange Tree)

We are based at 175/A Circuit House Road under the name Basant (Orange Tree). The area around Circuit House Road is a bit different from the busy markets; it feels a little more open here. Our daily routine involves a lot of checking on designs and looking at materials like wood or metal. We have a team that stays pretty busy with the actual making of things. The office and workshop area have a lot of dust from the sanding, but we try to keep it contained. We don't have a big corporate lobby. Instead, you'll see half-finished pieces and sketches lying around on the tables. It’s a place where we actually work with our hands quite a bit. The light on this road is nice in the afternoons, which helps when we are looking at colors or textures. We have our tea breaks out near the front and watch the traffic go by. It isn't a high-pressure corporate environment. We just focus on getting the pieces right and making sure the finish is what it should be. Sometimes we run behind schedule when a certain material isn't available, but we just manage as best as we can. We've stayed at this location because it gives us the space we need to think and build. It's just a regular group of people doing their job every day and trying to keep the workspace halfway decent.
