Government Girls Secondary School

This girls' secondary school is located at D-124 in Khetri Bazaar, right on the main road in Khetri, Jhunjhunu. Being in the middle of the bazaar means it is always very busy outside the gates. You can hear the sounds of the market, the honking of horns, and people shouting throughout the day. The school itself is an older building, as many are in this part of Rajasthan. We have a lot of girls coming from all parts of Khetri to study here. Since it is a government school, we follow all the state rules and the standard curriculum. The classrooms are basic with long benches and ceiling fans that sometimes rattle. We have a small courtyard where the girls can stand for the morning prayers and have their lunch. The teachers are mostly women who have been working in the education system for a long time. They are very protective of the students and make sure they are safe in the middle of the busy town. We don't have a lot of extra funding for things like sports equipment or new paint, so we make do with what we have. The walls have some old posters about health and science. It is an important place for the families in Khetri Bazaar because it gives their daughters a place to learn close to home. The routine is the same every day, starting early and ending just as the market gets even busier in the afternoon.
