Our school is based in Tara Bhawan on Bhikhampur Road in Deoria. It is an older building that has been patched up many times over the years. You can see the different layers of paint on the walls if you look closely. Bhikhampur Road is a busy place with lots of rickshaws and cycles going by, so there is always some noise. The entrance gate is a bit rusty and squeaks quite a bit when you open it. Inside, the hallway is usually cluttered with the students' bags and water bottles. We have several classrooms, each with wooden desks that have names carved into them by students from years ago. We don't try to stop it too much because it's just part of the school's history. We have a very small yard that is mostly dirt. It gets very muddy during the rainy season, so we have to keep the children inside the building then. The office is just a small desk in the corner of the main entrance area where we keep all the files and the telephone. We don't have any computers or fancy gadgets. Everything is done the old-fashioned way with pens and paper. We don't have a big philosophy or mission statement. We just follow the books and make sure the teachers are in their rooms on time. It is a very normal, everyday school for the people living here in Deoria. We just do our work.
