Mount Victoria Granites Ltd.

We are located right near the Lalitpur Railway Station. You can hear the trains coming and going all day long. It is a loud place to work, but it means we are very easy for people to find. We go by Mount Victoria Granites Ltd., though we are not a huge operation by any means. It is mostly just us and a few workers moving heavy slabs around the yard. Lalitpur gets very hot in the summer, so we usually start our day as early as we can to beat the sun. The granite sits out in the open yard. We have different colors, mostly whatever the local quarries are producing at the time. People coming off the trains sometimes stop by just to look at the stock. We do not mind at all. We show them the different slabs and explain how the grain looks once it is finally cut and polished. The office is just a small shack with a desk that has definitely seen better days. We do all our paperwork there on an old wooden table. Sometimes the dust from the station and the main road gets on everything. We have to wipe down the slabs constantly so they look okay to the customers. It is a lot of heavy lifting and our backs really feel it by the end of the day. We just try to keep enough stock so people have good choices.
