We are located over at C-18 in the Lipl ACP area of Gopalnagar, which is part of the Janjgir-Champa district in Chhattisgarh. Even though we are part of a large French MNC, the vibe here is actually very local and grounded. Dr. Prasant S Patra’s name is often associated with our specific spot here on the ground. It’s a residential-style office where we manage the local operations for the plant. Being in this part of Chhattisgarh means we deal with a lot of heat and red dust, but that’s just part of the cement business for us. We don't have a big corporate lobby with leather chairs. Instead, it’s just a functional space where we sit and talk about production numbers and transport logistics. Most of us have been around here for a long time, so we know the neighbors and the local shops. It’s a small, tight community in Gopalnagar. We don't spend money on flashy signs or big advertisements. We just focus on the task at hand, which is usually making sure the cement gets out of the plant and onto the trucks on time. Life here follows the rhythm of the factory shifts quite closely. When the whistles blow, you know what time it is without looking at a clock. We drink a lot of chai and try to stay cool while we work through the piles of paperwork. It’s honest work, and we don’t try to make it sound like more than it is.
