Tata Chemicals Limited

I’m over at J-3, Quarter Number 69, which is part of the Tata Chemicals Limited township in Mithapur. This is essentially where we live and work all at once. The quarters are old, but they are sturdy. Living in Jamnagar district, you get used to the salty air because we’re so close to the coast. The township is like its own little world. Most of the people you see at the local store are the same ones you see in the office during the day. It’s not a polished corporate environment. It’s more like a neighborhood where we happen to run a business. My desk is near the window, and I can see the trees outside. Sometimes the monkeys come by and make a mess of the porch, which is just part of living here. We handle a lot of the administrative side of things from this quarter. It’s quiet for the most part, which helps when you have to concentrate on spreadsheets. We don't have any big slogans on the walls. We just have calendars and maybe a few photos of our families. It’s a very basic setup, but it’s been working for us for years. You learn to fix things yourself if they break, like a leaky tap or a stuck window. It’s just how life is in the township. We keep our heads down and do the work.
