Our place is down in the Chokhawala Industrial Estate over at Bedki Pada in Navapur. If you know the area, it’s mostly warehouses and small units like ours. The air always smells a bit like whatever we’re packing or cooking that day. It gets pretty hot during the afternoons, especially when all the machinery is running at the same time. We usually get started quite early before the sun gets too high. There’s a lot of moving boxes around and checking the weight of things. It’s not a glamorous job, but it’s what we do. The trucks come in and out of the estate all day, so there’s always a bit of dust and noise from the engines. We have a small crew and we’ve mostly worked together for a long time, so we don't need to say much to get the job done. Sometimes we sit outside on the loading dock when things quiet down for a minute. Navapur is a bit out of the way, but the estate is always humming with activity. We try to keep things clean and tidy, but in a food business, there is always something to wash or sweep up. It’s hard work, and by the time we lock up, everyone is ready to go home. We just focus on getting the bags filled and the orders sorted correctly every single day. There is no point in rushing if the work is not done right.
