Life in Hated is pretty quiet for the most part. Our school, Sri Shivaji Hayskul, sits right in the middle of things here in Jalgaon. It’s a place where everyone knows each other’s business. We have the same routines every single day. The bell rings, the kids line up, and we get to work. The building has seen better days, maybe a fresh coat of paint would help, but the roof stays dry and that’s what matters. We have a lot of students from the surrounding farms coming in. Some of them walk quite a distance. In the afternoons, the dust picks up on the road outside. We spend a lot of time just keeping the place tidy. There isn't much flash or show here. We teach the basics and try to keep everyone on track. Sometimes the electricity goes out in the afternoon, so we just open the windows and keep going with the natural light. It gets hot in Jalgaon, especially around April. We’ve got a few trees in the yard that provide a bit of shade during the breaks. Most of the staff have been here for years and they don't plan on leaving. It’s just how things are in a small place like this. We do our jobs and go home to our families. It’s not a complicated life, but it keeps us busy from Monday to Saturday.
