Santa Plastics

Santa Plastics is based at A-9 in the Co-Operative Industrial Estate, right in the MIDC area. It’s an industrial zone, so it’s exactly what you’d expect: lots of concrete, metal sheds, and the sound of machines running all day. Our unit is basically one big floor with the machines on one side and the finished bags and containers stacked on the other. It gets quite hot in here during the summer because of the molding machines, but we have big exhaust fans that help a little. We don’t have a separate office building; our desks are just tucked into a corner of the main floor so we can see what’s happening. Most of our staff have been with us since we started, so they know the machines inside out. We spend our days making sure the plastic pellets are fed into the hoppers and that the molds are coming out clean. There’s a lot of manual work involved, from loading the trucks to checking the quality of each piece. We don't bother with fancy suits or corporate talk. We wear work clothes and get our hands dirty. The MIDC area can be a bit grim with all the dust and noise, but it’s where things get made. We just focus on getting the orders out on time without making a big fuss about it. If you come by, watch your step because there’s always a pallet being moved somewhere or a forklift passing by. We usually close up the gates by six.
