Hindustan Ice Factory

Navapur is an interesting spot because it’s right there on the edge of things near Surat. Our place, Hindustan Ice Factory, is situated right opposite the Post Office. It’s a handy location because everyone knows where the post office is in a town like this. Being in the Nandurbad district, we get some pretty warm days, which keeps us busy. The factory is a simple setup. We focus on getting the ice blocks ready for the local vendors and the trucks that pass through towards the coast. There’s no big corporate structure here; it’s mostly just a few of us making sure the machines are running and the water is clean. The building has some age to it, and you can hear the rumble of the cooling units from down the street. We usually start very early in the morning before the sun gets too high. The area around us is typical for Navapur, a bit of dust, people moving about their business, and the occasional queue at the post office across the way. We don't do much advertising or anything like that. People just know we are here when they need to keep things cold. It’s a straightforward job, moving the heavy slabs and loading them up. It gets tiring on the back, but it's what we do. The proximity to Surat means there's always a bit of traffic moving nearby, adding to the general noise of the day.
