Dondaicha Ice Factory

We’ve been over here in the Jinwala Compound for a long time now. If you head down toward the Station Area in Dondaicha, you’ll find our building easily enough. It gets pretty hot around here, especially in the long afternoons, so keeping the ice machines running is basically what we do all day and night. There is always a lot of noise coming from the compressors and the trucks coming in to load up. Most people around the neighborhood know where we are. We don't really do anything fancy, just standard blocks and crushed ice for whoever needs it. Some days are busier than others, especially when there’s a local festival or during the peak of the dry season. The floor is usually wet and there is plenty of cold air coming out of the storage rooms when we open the heavy doors. It is hard work keeping everything frozen, but we are used to the cold by now. We just focus on getting the blocks ready for the morning deliveries. It is a simple setup, nothing too modern or high-tech, but it does the job. You can usually see the mist coming off the ice when we move it out to the loading area. Dealing with water and freezing temperatures is just how we spend our time. Being near the station means there is always someone passing by or asking for a bit of ice for their cooler. That's about all there is to it.
