Our office is at 81 Polan Peth, right in the heart of Dana Bazar. It’s a place that smells of grain and earth most of the time. Bansilal Mansa Ram & Co. has been part of this market for a long time. Every morning, the bazar comes alive with traders and farmers. We open up early, usually before the sun is fully up, to get a head start on the day’s trade. The building we’re in is sturdy but simple. It’s seen a lot of seasons. Inside, it’s mostly just wooden furniture and stacks of records. We don’t really go for modern office trends. The work is about the goods and the people we buy from and sell to. You’ll often find us sitting around a small table, drinking tea and talking about the market prices. It’s a noisy environment with all the shouting and the trucks, but it feels right to us. We handle the accounts and the logistics of moving grain. Sometimes the market is down, and everyone looks a bit worried, but then it picks up again. That’s just the cycle of life here in Dana Bazar. We’ve seen generations of families coming through these doors. We don’t have a big marketing team or anything like that. We just do our work, keep our books straight, and try to be fair with everyone who walks in. It’s a plain, honest business and we like it that way.
