Zig Zag Hair Saloon

Our shop is at number 34 on Nussi Road. If you know where Bidhipur Chowk is, then you’ve probably passed us plenty of times. It’s called Zig Zag Hair Saloon. I don’t even remember why we picked that name, maybe just because it sounded different back then. Jalandhar City is a busy place and this road is no exception. We’ve got a small space here, nothing to write home about, but it does the job for the guys in the neighborhood. The chairs are old but they’re comfortable enough once you sit back. I spend most of my time with a pair of scissors in my hand, looking at the back of someone’s head in the mirror. We get all sorts coming in, from kids who don't want to sit still to old men who have been coming here since we first opened the doors. The walls have a few old posters on them that have faded over the years. We keep the radio on most of the time just to have some background noise against the sound of the bikes outside. Sometimes we run out of clean towels and have to wait for the laundry to dry out back. It’s just a small-time operation. We don’t do any of that fancy styling you see on TV, just standard cuts and shaves for people who just want to look decent for work. That’s about all there is to it.
