Salman Ali Hair Saloon is located right on Harbans Nagar Road. If you know the Jalandhar City area and the Ravidass Mandir, then you know exactly where we are because the temple is just a short walk away. I have been working in this shop for a long time. It is a small space and we do not have much room for anything that isn't necessary for the job, but it works fine for us and the people who live on this street. We usually open up quite early in the morning. You will see a lot of people stopping by for a quick trim before they head off to their jobs for the day. I handle most of the cutting myself and sometimes my hands get a bit stiff by the time evening rolls around, but that is just how it is when you work for yourself. We try to keep the floor swept between customers but it is hard when it gets busy. Our tools are basic and we don't do those complicated modern styles you see in magazines. We just do standard cuts and clean up beards. Most people around here know my face and we talk about the local news or the weather while I work. The chairs are old-fashioned and have seen a lot of people over the years. We don't spend money on advertising. People just find us by walking past the temple. It’s a simple life.
