M.G. Steels

M.G. Steels is located right on Sodal Road. If you know the area, you know how busy this road gets with trucks and rickshaws moving through at all hours. We are right in the thick of it, where the air often smells like iron and old rain on the pavement. The building is an older one, with thick walls that help a little bit with the noise from the traffic outside. Inside, it’s mostly about the steel. We have stacks of it leaning against the walls and piled up in the back. Moving it around takes a lot of effort and we usually end the day with some sore muscles and grease on our clothes. Sodal Road has been our home for a long time, and we’ve seen the shops around us change while we just keep doing what we do. The office part is just a wooden desk and a couple of old filing cabinets that have seen better days. We don't spend much time sitting down anyway. Usually, we are out front checking the loads or talking to the drivers who come in from the main highway. It’s a practical way to spend the day, focusing on the weight of the metal and making sure the numbers in the ledger match up. It’s not a fancy life, but it’s ours, and we stay busy from the moment we open up until the sun goes down and the traffic on Sodal Road finally starts to thin out just a little bit.
