Harshil Foods Point

Harshil Foods Point is just a small shop, number 86, inside the Hargovind Nagar Market here in Phagwara. I open up the shutters every morning around ten, and the first thing I do is start the stove. The market gets quite crowded by the afternoon, especially on weekends when everyone is out shopping. Being in Phagwara, you see the same faces every day, which is nice because it feels more like a community than just a business. My hands are usually covered in flour or oil by noon because there’s always something to fry or pack for the people walking by. The shop isn't very large, so things can feel a bit cramped when three or four customers are waiting at the same time. I’ve been working at this spot for a while now, and I’ve learned that the most important thing is just showing up and getting the work done. The heat from the kitchen can be a bit much in the summer months, but we just keep the fan running and carry on. Sometimes the supplies arrive late from the wholesalers, and I have to make do with what’s in the pantry. It’s a basic setup with some counters and a few stools for people to sit if they aren't in a hurry. Just a regular day-to-day grind in the heart of the market where we keep serving snacks and meals to anyone passing through.
