Emm Aar International School

Our school is situated quite a bit out from the main city area of Jalandhar, about 32 to 40 kilometers along the Hoshiarpur Road. Being on National Highway-70 means we see a lot of long-distance traffic passing by Adampur Doaba. The location is quite open, so we get a lot of wind across the grounds, which is nice in the summer but can be freezing during those cold Punjab winters. We all have to bundle up in thick sweaters then. The school building is quite large, and it takes a few minutes to walk from one end to the other. We have a lot of yellow buses that bring everyone in from the surrounding villages and towns. In the mornings, the parking lot is a very busy place with buses backing up and parents dropping off their kids. The classrooms are spacious, and we have large windows that let in a lot of natural light. Our staff room is a place where we catch our breath and talk about the day's events. Sometimes the power goes out, and we have to wait for the generator to kick in, which is just part of life here. We have a big playground where football is popular, and you can often see a stray ball flying over the fence. It is a long day for most of us given the commute, but we are used to the rhythm of the highway.
