Hotel Gorbandh Palace, Jaisalmer

Manish Kumar runs things here, and he took over from his father Ashok Kumar Joshi. We are located right in Dalala Para, which is a real slice of Jaisalmer life. It’s not like those big chain hotels you see in magazines; we have a more personal touch because it’s a family-run kind of thing. Jaisalmer is famous for its yellow stone, and you see that everywhere around us. Our address is easy to find if you’re wandering around the old parts of the city. We spend a lot of time just keeping the dust off the furniture because the desert wind doesn't stop for anyone. Hotel Gorbandh Palace, Jaisalmer is where we spend our days, usually welcoming people who have traveled quite a long way to see the fort. We don't have a big corporate team, just a few local guys who know the streets and where to get the best tea. Manish is usually around if you need something specific. We try to keep things simple and comfortable for whoever walks through the door. Sometimes we sit out front in the evenings when it cools down a bit. It’s a quiet life mostly, aside from the tourist season when everything gets a bit hectic. We like it that way. Living and working in Dalala Para means we are part of the neighborhood, seeing the same faces every morning when we open up. It's just a regular business in a very old, beautiful city.
