Cafe The Kaku

We've been here at Patwa Haveli Road for a while now. Most people find us because we're so close to Sunset Point over at Suli Dungar. It gets pretty busy around here when the sun starts going down. Jaisalmer is a dusty place, and our cafe feels that too, but we try to keep it tidy. My brother and I started this place because there wasn't much around this corner. We have chairs on the roof where you can see the fort and the old buildings. It's not fancy, just some tables and benches. Sometimes the wind is quite strong, so we have to move things around. We get a mix of travelers and local folks stopping by for a quick tea or something to eat. The kitchen isn't huge, so when it's packed, things might take a bit longer. We don't have a big fancy menu, just the stuff we know how to make well. The street outside is narrow, typical for Jaisalmer, so parking a big vehicle is a nightmare. Most people just walk up. We've seen a lot of people come and go over the years. Some sit for hours writing in journals, others just want a cold drink before heading back to their hotels. It's just a normal spot for people to rest their legs. We like the view from up here, especially when the lights on the havelis come on. It is just how things are in this part of town.
