Vishwakarma Udyog

Our workshop is over in Jhotwara, specifically Bhagwan Bahubali Nagar on Niwaru Road, number 40. It's a bit of a trek if you're coming from the middle of the city, but this is where we have the space for the kind of heavy work we do. We mostly handle metal and fabrication stuff. It gets really loud with the machines running all through the day. The floor is usually covered in metal scraps and iron dust, but that’s just a workshop for you. We started out small and just stayed in this neighborhood because the locals know our faces. There’s no big front office or a receptionist here. You just walk in and talk to whoever isn't busy with a machine. Most of the guys here have been working with their hands for many years. We do a lot of custom jobs, so things are never really the same two days in a row. Sometimes a project takes longer than we first thought, especially if an old machine breaks down, but we always get it done eventually. We don't use fancy computers for everything; a lot of it is just measuring by hand and making sure it looks right. People bring in sketches on scraps of paper and we try to make it happen for them. It’s a gritty job, but we like seeing the finished product. The gate is usually open, so you can just pop in and see us.
