Vastramber Saree Shop

Chaura Rasta is a place that never really sleeps during the day. Our shop, Vastramber Saree Shop, is located at 69 Sand Ka Rasta. It is one of those narrow lanes where you really have to watch your step because of the scooters zooming past. We have been at this spot for a while now. The shop is small but we pack a lot of sarees into the cupboards and onto the shelves. It usually smells like incense and old cotton in here. Most days are spent talking to aunties who know exactly what kind of border they want for their daughter's wedding. They are tough negotiators, but that is just part of the fun of being in this part of town. We do not have a fancy website or anything like that. We just have the sign outside and the stock inside. The address is 69 Sand Ka Rasta, Chaura Rasta. It is a busy area, so it gets a bit dusty, but we keep the sarees covered in plastic. Every morning we sweep the front and get the displays ready. It is not a glamorous life, but it is our life. We see a lot of faces, some regulars and some just passing through the lane. The sarees we have are honest, just like the shop itself. We do not make big promises. You come in, you look at the cloth, you decide if you like it. That is how we work.
