Ummed Kirana Store

Our little place, Ummed Kirana Store, is located right by the 200 Fit Bypass in the Vaishali Nagar area, near Karni Palace. Being so close to the bypass means there is always a lot of noise from the big trucks and cars passing by at all hours. We are at number 1 on that stretch. The shop is quite small, but we managed to fit a lot of stuff on the wooden racks we built years ago. You will find all the basics here like cooking oil, spices, and tea leaves. We also keep some snacks and cold drinks in the small fridge at the front. The floor is made of old stone and it’s seen a lot of feet over the years. I usually sit on a wooden stool near the entrance. It gets quite hot in the summer because the sun hits the front of the shop directly in the afternoon. We don't have an air conditioner, just a ceiling fan that wobbles a bit. People from the nearby houses come in for their daily needs. Sometimes they stay for a bit of a chat, telling me about their day or what’s happening in the colony. It’s a simple life. We close up when it gets dark and the bypass traffic slows down a little. It’s not a big supermarket, just a corner store where you can find what you need for dinner tonight. We just keep going day by day, making sure the shelves aren't completely empty when the customers arrive.
